So I figured that I should pay a visit to our long forgotten blog. It's kind of sad that they're over. I really hope everyone is doing well. Life up here is amazing and beautiful. I kind of never ever want to leave. I always knew that I never really belonged in the city and living in da Yoop has definitely made me realize how very true this is. I belong in nature. I hope you guys are also finding out where you belong in life and figuring things out.

One thing I have to say is this: People really do say "eh" on a regular basis up here. It's not just some myth. It really happens. Actually they kind of vary it sometimes between "eh", "ey", or "hey". Many sentences are ended with one of these variations, especially for Yooper natives.
I just thought you guys should know that.

I hope you all are gushing with love and blessings and amazingness,
Angela

Been a Long Time

Seems like life is moving by so so fast! It feels like years have passed since we started this blog. Since then we have had many trials and many feats. Angela is gone to school (miss you Ang, can't wait to see you next weekend!!!) Cecelia is getting married in 9 days (Yay!), and Jen and I have painted a wall in our new apartment (which looks amazing so far). But not one of us has written in this blog.

As I sit here, on a day off (of 2 pre-weekend days) I look at other blogs and wonder "why is ours so out of date?" Just because we have gone separate ways, that doesn't give an excuse for separating from the Fort. Each one of us has our own fort, but we don't have to forget where we started.

So, to bring back The Great Fort Rebellion, I say "Cheers!"

Moving Away

I can not believe I only have two weeks before I move. It's been pretty crazy since I got home from Texas, and I haven't felt much like computing. On another note, I've been trying to use less of the internet and watch less tv. It seems that using the computer less has actually helped me to watch more tv, because I do that in its place. However, I really don't watch tv a lot more because I am working basically 2 jobs every day. By the way, having 3 jobs is not always what it seems! Anyway. My trip to Texas was awesome, and I wanted to stay there, but it obviously wansn't possible. I won't finish it tonight, but I'd like to share with you what happened on our trip.

The first day we got there,, we arrived around 5pm and spent the evening taking in the awesomeness of the city (driving to the hotel) and relaxing. We went to an awesome BBQ place, that was like fast food, but BBQ. SO GOOD!

The second day, we went into a briefing at 7 am, after having to be to the base at 6. Needless to say, we were up before 5 am. What a long day! After the briefing, we got to see the trainees run part of their morning run, and this was the first time we saw Nate. After that, they had a coin ceremony which is the part of the graduation where the trainee's receive the Airman's coin, and transition officially from trainee to Airman. After this, we were able to see Nate and spend the day with him on the base.

The second day at the base (third day of our trip) was the actual graduation. We got to see the Airmen swear in to the Airforce by taking the Oath. They also paraded in front of us and we got to see all of their flags and hear all of the Flights that graduated and they received a few awards. After that we were able to go see the barracks and then were allowed to go off base at noon to any part of the San Antonio area. I think (if I remember correctly) we went and took Nate to buy a phone, and then went to the hotel for the evening. It was mostly a relaxing day.....

........to be continued.......

Current State of the Fort

::Sigh:: I miss the fort..
It's been deconstructed for awhile. Last night I spent sometime in the fort just hanging with God, listening to music, and reading. It was definately a nice time alone... with God :) . The room was dark, the only light was from my laptop, i looked up and saw the clouds and the metalic paper stars on the ceiling.. i was thinking we really need the glow in the dark stars that were suggested..and kinda pictured what it was like back in the day, in the Bible, when all the 12 tribes of Israel encamped around the Tent of Meeting. Everyone has their place, their role. Everything in the Tabernacle was precise, had it's place. One of the songs that I listened/worshiped to was 'Take Me In' by Kutless.

Only a certain person was allowed to enter in, on a certain day. Those who entered in that weren't that person didn't make it out a live. They dropped dead, not that God killed them, only the theif comes to steal, kill, and destroy, God brings life (John 10:10). His presence, His Holiness.. demands pure obedience. God always desired a closer relationship with all of us, through His Son, Jesus, it's possible. No one comes to the Father except through Jesus. Through Jesus the curtain of the Temple was torn (from top to bottom, the details amaze me, God is so intricate and precise), allowing us ability to come into the Holy of Holies, to experience God. He wants us to enter in on a regular basis. He wants us to know Him. Really know Him.
It is my goal to live a life that is most pleasing, respectful, awe-filled, and filled with Him. To spend every moment in the presence of God; to have those quiet, our times, but to be in the presence of God everywhere... To enter in as often as possible...

{Happy Sunday}
-Jen

Throw it Off the Balcony Thursdays

Hey again! Water balloons (it would just be fun :) )
5.) a Watermellon (same as above)

I guess that's i have, im in a pretty good mood this morning and don't have many things i would like to throw off the balcony.. but the day is not over so I may have a few to add.. and so may the other girls.
Have a good Thursday..
-Jen

Dwelling

Hey! Fort progress is coming along nicely. I've been thinking about forts quite a bit lately (whether that's a good thing or not, im not sure heh :) ) But today I was thinking about the fort as our dwelling. We live and dwell in this apartment (and the fort). I love that the fort (when fully constructed) will be a place of comfort, peace, fun, loud times and quiet times, and just a place where we can come and kinda get away from the world. That got me thinking, today in church Pastor was talking about our relationship with God in high def. and how He's always with us and in us... God makes His dwelling in us. Our lives should be a life of peace, fun, joy, loud and quiet times, love, etc. A place where God can be comfortable. And what's also cool is He is our dwelling place.

"If you make the Most High your dwelling—
even the LORD, who is my refuge-
then no harm will befall you,
no disaster will come near your tent."
-Psalm 91:9-10

If we make God our dwelling, no disaster will come near us! God is soo cool.. and nothing beats Him as our dwelling, not even our fort.
Well Happy Sunday!
-Jen

Under Construction

Construction for The Fort is underway.

Currently we are working on the basic structure, but we will not be officially up and running until sometime next week.

PICS SOON TO COME........

Start of the Revolution

So the other day, my roommates and I were conversing about how we really don't want to grow up. Who does? I mean really, all the stress and anxiety that is accompanied by it. Why can't we just stay young forever? It makes a lot more sense if you ask me. And so we started thinking, we needed a place where we could go and do absolutely nothing for no reason at all with no significance and waste our time and our lives. We decided that we're going to build a ginormous fort in out living room. As of yet our living room looks pretty normal:

But stay tuned for updates on this critically important rebellion that will affect lives all over the world. We encourage viewers to build a fort in their living room as well in protest to adulthood. This cause means a lot to us and I think it will mean a lot to you as well.
